Edgel Mission — Spiritual — Growing children in faith

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6

Edgel Mission believes that the development of a child extends beyond education and practical skills to include spiritual formation. Our Spiritual Growth Programme provides children with opportunities to know God’s Word, grow in faith, develop Christian character, and understand how biblical truth applies to everyday life.

Biblical Teaching and Discipleship

Through age-appropriate Bible teaching, children are encouraged to understand Scripture and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Teaching includes Bible stories, Scripture memorisation, prayer, discussions, worship, and practical application of biblical principles. The programme is primarily delivered by our dedicated staff, with support from Christian volunteers who occasionally serve as teachers, mentors, and role models, helping children grow in their knowledge of God and develop Christ-like character.

Regular Spiritual Fellowship

Our Spiritual Growth Programme integrates faith into the daily lives of the children we serve. Children are encouraged to begin their activities with prayer, give thanks to God, and commit their plans and work to Him. As Scripture says, “Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established” (Proverbs 16:3). Every Friday, children participate in Prayer, Praise and Instruction (PPI), with time for worship, Bible teaching, prayer, Scripture memorisation, and reflection.

We also observe key Christian celebrations such as Easter and Christmas, using these occasions to teach children about Jesus Christ, the gospel, and the significance of His death and resurrection through Scripture, worship, songs, drama, and fellowship. Through these daily, weekly, and annual activities, we seek to nurture a faith that shapes children’s character, choices, relationships, and walk with God.
